Courage

Encouragement plays a major role in developing belief in yourself and brings about greater effort to accomplish goals. Companies who strive for high performance apply encouragement.

What is encouragement?

Encouragement literally means to create courage in someone. Offering words of encouragement is a powerful tool. Great leaders encourage others to believe in themselves, to become confident, to grow and make positive changes in their lives.

How do you apply encouragement?

Become an encourager by inspiring others through kindness, true praise, fairness, and appreciation. Acknowledge potential in another person in an area in which they were unaware. Then challenge them and support them with a plan to succeed. Be specific and sincere with the goal.

Why it matters?

Authentic encouragement helps people overcome fear and build morale. It sets the example to build each other up. The confidence to face challenges comes into place. The gift of encouragement can transform people and circumstances while creating the desire to take positive, forward thinking action.

Encouragement establishes hope. When you encourage others, you encourage yourself. You become stronger and influence others to believe in themselves and to do the right thing.

Believe in you. Make a meaningful difference in someone’s life today.

Use your words to inspire

Your words make an impact

Your words make a tremendous impact on others. Whether a casual conversation, or a focused business discussion, your words matter. The sound of your voice plays a role as well. Are you rushing through your response, do you have a positive tone, do you have the other person’s interest at heart? Conscious conversations are critical in today’s communication challenges.

Conscious conversations are results oriented

Your energy is transmitted to the other person. It can either build or destroy trust. Every word you say produces an effect. As I was interviewing a business owner recently, I noticed that she was a good listener and a thoughtful speaker. When she spoke, her words were understanding and calmingly professional. I could see her presenting to a client with all intent of engaging the other person, building trust by asking questions, and truly reassuring the results of the conversation.

Your choice of words matters

Choose your words wisely. Ask yourself the question, “Do I want to make a difference in someone’s life today?” In my experience, I have found that kind words matter. To convey to another person that you care, that you understand without judgment, and that they matter as a human being, can be the inspiration that person needs to live another day. Your words matter!

For more on how your words matter, I highly recommend reading the book: Conversational Intelligence. How great leaders build trust and get extraordinary results by Judith E. Glaser

“To get to the next level of greatness depends on the quality of the culture, which depends on the quality of relationships, which depends on the quality of conversations. Everything happens through conversations.” – Judith E. Glaser

Can't see the forest for the trees? Focus on your vision.

What is your vision?

What’s the big picture in your life and business?  Are you focused on your vision? How do you see it?  Are your activities keeping you on track to reach your goals and to have what you want in life?  How do your current strategies connect to the big picture?

Perspective

To gain a better perspective, take time to define the results you are working toward, examine the way you spend your time, and explore the tools you are using along the way.  As an example, professional coaching, applying current technology, using learning sources, and connecting with likeminded professionals play an important role in your process.

Connection

  • Display your big picture message so that you see it daily.
  • Conduct regular tasks and activities that pertain directly to your desired outcome.
  • Understand the “why.” Why is this important to you?
  • Know the “how.” How will this add value to your life and the lives of others?

Working toward your big picture provides the purpose, the fulfillment, and the meaning in life and business.
